Playing for the Club

  • Players are expected to purchase playing shirts and socks from our nominated kit supplier, Hawkinsport in Bourne End. Current kit details are available on the Kit page of the website. Players new to the club will be loaned a shirt until they have acquired their own. Juniors playing in under 14 team matches will be provided with a shirt for each game.

  • The Club home strip consists of numbered light blue shirts with dark blue trim, dark blue shorts, skort or skirt, and light and dark blue hooped socks. The away strip consists of numbered white shirts, dark blue shorts, skort or skirt, and white socks.

  • Every player selected for a league match must ensure they are in possession of uniquely numbered club shirt. Every player should carry an “away” club shirt and socks to all matches in case of unforeseen colour clashes.

  • All playing members are required to pay a match fee, inclusive of tea. Current match fees can be found on the Subs & Match Fees webpage.

  • As a playing member it shall be the player’s responsibility to ensure that their normal Captain/Team Manager has details of their availability at least two weeks in advance. Availability can be recorded by logging into the website and inputting the information into ‘Your Profile’.The information will automatically be communicated to your Captain/Team Manager by the system. If a player fails to make their availability known, they are likely to be assumed unavailable for selection.

  • Any player who has made their availability known and has not been contacted by 8pm Thursday night should contact their normal Captain/Team Manager to ascertain for which team they have been selected.

  • In making themselves available, the member is committing to play for whatever team they are selected. Members may express preferences as to start times if they have another commitment on a Saturday, however this should be done as far in advance as possible.

  • Advise your Captain/Team Manager if you are travelling direct to any away match. Make sure that you have the address and telephone number of the opposition clubhouse, and the pitch where you will play.

  • As a playing member it is the responsibility of the individual to ensure that they are aware of the current rules enforced by England Hockey and to conduct themselves accordingly when playing in hockey matches or spectating.

  • As a member there is an expectation that players will make every effort to support the social and fund-raising activities of the Club.

  • Home teams are responsible for directing opposition teams and umpires to the post-match venue and ensuring that they are entertained/refreshed.
